Here at The Sim Grid, we host many different championships and events throughout the year. In fact, we take great pride in being able to offer such a wide variety of competitions, for drivers of all different experience levels and skill sets.
However, with so much on offer, there’s a lot to choose from. So, by the end of this article, we hope that you’ll be fully up to speed with everything going on at The Sim Grid now, and in the near future.
Without further ado, here’s a run-down of all the ongoing and upcoming series available here, at The Sim Grid.
The Sim Grid x VCO World Cup
Have you ever watched the 12 Hours of Bathurst, or the 24 Hours of Spa, and thought to yourself; “I bet I could do that”? Well, The Sim Grid x VCO World Cup is your chance to prove it. Arguably the jewel of The Sim Grid’s crown, this championship is the closest thing to real-life endurance racing that we offer. Though while the racing may be virtual, the rewards are anything but, with over $20,000 USD worth of prize money set to be shared between the best performing teams in the top split across the course of the season.
Naturally, this series attracts some of the world’s most highly-skilled sim racers on the Assetto Corsa Competizione platform. So, if any team wants to get their hands on the jackpot, they will have to bring a professional, dedicated outlook with them to the track. Plus, if you fancy stealing a march on the competition, then why not seek the advice of real-life GT racing champion, David Perel? Prepare yourself to the fullest by checking out all the resources available over at the Coach Dave Academy.
The Sim Grid x Sim Sok Endurance Cup
With stakes set so high in The Sim Grid x VCO World Cup, you would be forgiven for thinking that the Endurance Cup season might be a bit more casual. Well, think again. Previous editions of this series have produced some of the most fraught and competitive races on our platform so far. But if that seems a bit much, don’t fret. The Sim Grid x Sim Sok Endurance Cup is divided into four different splits based upon lap time in qualifying, so regardless of your experience in sim racing, you’ll be matched with a fun group of competitors at a similar skill level to yourself. Not only does this make the racing fairer, but it also makes it more enjoyable for everyone. Races in this championship last between 3-9 hours, so if you plan on entering, you’ll need to have a co-driver alongside you to share the driving time. The Sim Grid Sprint Cup
Not a fan of long-distance races? No problem. The Sim Grid Sprint Cup consists of six 90-minute races and is held every two weeks. This is the perfect championship for drivers and teams who take their racing seriously, but who might not have the time needed to commit to The Sim Grid x Sim Sok Endurance Cup. Despite the shorter race distance, each team that enters into this championship must have two drivers per car, just like the real-life GTWC Europe Sprint Cup – so don’t forget to bring a teammate! Season three of The Sim Grid Sprint Cup has already reached the halfway stage, but if you want to find out more, then check out the series information page.
More Female Racers by Thrustmaster Rockets
It is no secret that motorsport currently lacks diversity in the pit lane. This is something that The Sim Grid wants to help address, by offering a competitive esports championship designed to test the skills of upcoming female racers. We hope that it will encourage more women to get involved with the sport, ultimately serving as a launchpad to help boost the virtual or real-life racing aspirations of those women.
What we have come up with is the More Female Racers by Thrustmaster Rockets championship; a series that consists of hour-long feature races, split into three twenty-minute stints. Each team must consist of at least one female driver to be eligible to race, while separate classes for ‘Pro’, ‘Silver’ and ‘Pro-Am’ entries ensure that drivers of all experience levels are welcome. Plus, there is no such thing as a car advantage in this championship, with all teams required to drive the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo. A level playing field like this means that talent will shine through by the time the chequered flag is waved, with those achievements being broadcast live on YouTube. So, if this sounds like a championship that you or somebody that you know would be interested in, you can find out how to get involved here.
One-off events
All the fun without any of the commitment; The Sim Grid regularly hosts one-off races for drivers who want to experience high-quality competitions, without having to sign up for a full championship. This is where our events team can let their creativity flow, resulting in races that are often centred around unique formats or scenarios. For example, The Sim Grid recently held its first-ever Economy Challenge – a race where teams had to conserve just two sets of tyres and one full tank of fuel in order to make it to the chequered flag! Next up, The Sim Grid will be hosting The Battle of the Outcasts on Thursday 29th April at 19:30 BST. This 60-minute, one-off race will feature two of modern GT3 racing’s greatest misfits; the Emil Frey Jaguar G3 and the Reiter Engineering R-EX. This is the perfect chance to experience one of two cars which you are unlikely to use in any other race. If you’d like to join us on the grid at Monza, find out how by checking out the event information page.
Super Saturday
Super Saturday offers an eclectic mix of racing by combining full championships and one-off events on the same day. Much like a real-life race meeting, Super Saturdays are centred around one feature championship, while also offering one-off support races that anyone can get involved with. This makes Super Saturday ideal for anybody who likes to spice up their racing with a bit of variety. Most recently, the Best of British series served as The Sim Grid’s Super Saturday feature championship, which saw solo drivers take on the best circuits that the UK has to offer. During the finale at Snetterton, the main series was joined by three different support categories. These included; the Bentley Challenge (a one-make race for the Continental GT3), a GT4 race, and the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series. Keep an eye out on our Announcements and Events pages to be kept up to date on when Super Saturday will return next!
Daily Races
However, if you can’t wait for Super Saturday to return, there’s no need to worry, as The Sim Grid still offers the Daily Racing platform. By signing up to The Sim Grid, you’ll be able to access three one-off races each and every day. This will allow you to experience everything that Assetto Corsa Competizione has to offer, on a casual basis. Whether it’s GT3 racing, GT4, or multiclass; an endurance format, or a sprint – our constantly changing cycle of daily races will have it covered. To see what events are running today, please visit The Sim Grid’s daily racing website.
We would love for you to join us on the starting grid, so if you’re interested in taking part but aren’t sure where to begin, please take a look at our handy starting-out guide.
