The Sim Grid is pleased to announce that after two highly-successful seasons of racing, the Sprint Cup is back for a third season along with a series brand new sim racing championship to our calendar, the Best of British.
Sprint Cup season 3
Last season, we saw the Sprint Cup boom in popularity. So, over the coming months, the Sprint Cup is returning to your calendar with a similar format, but better than you’ve ever seen it before. With one more split and a sixth race to the season, this will make Season 3 the biggest season of racing the Sprint Cup has seen.
The Format
For the Sprint Cup’s third season, the race lengths shall remain unchanged, with the calendar consisting of six 90 minute races every two weeks, with one mandatory driver swap, bringing consistency to our events. The six races will also have a weather system based on real-life, adding an extra layer of immersion and challenge for our drivers.
Signups for the Sprint Cup will open to the public during The Sim Grid’s Super Saturday, so watch along to find out exactly when you can claim your spot on the grid. When signing up for the series, the top 20 teams from the top split of season 2 will be invited to race once more, whilst the top 3 teams from each previously existing split will have the option to be moved up to their next respective split. Each of the five splits will consist of 35 cars, with each team requiring two drivers to enter as we will be using the same driver swap-based layout. This means that the Sprint Cup will consist of a maximum of 350 drivers – a record number for the series.
The Sprint Cup will use a custom success Balance of Performance (BoP) so head to The Sim Grid website for exact information. Remember, if you want to track exactly how this affects you and your competitors, check out Coach Dave Academy’s Race Sync for accurate data on your races.
The Races
For season 3 of the Sprint Cup, we will be heading to six prestigious circuits, with the first round held on March 11th:
- Round 1 – Snetterton
- Round 2 – Misano
- Round 3 – Imola
- Round 4 – Hungary
- Round 5 – Zolder
- Round 6 – Suzuka
Each of these tracks brings a unique challenge to season 3’s calendar, allowing for closer racing than ever. To watch all of the action unfold live, you can head to our YouTube channel, where commentators David Christie and Alex Goldschmidt will voice the series.
Best of British
After the release of v1.7 for Assetto Corsa Competizione and the British GT DLC, The Sim Grid are excited to bring you the Best of British series – consisting of five rounds at the most iconic British circuits. Not only will they be great races in their own right, but also the main feature event of The Sim Grid’s Super Saturdays.
The Format
Best of British is a solo series which will consist of five races across seven weeks, with three 90 minute races and two 2.4 hour endurance races. Best of British will be made up of 6 splits, allowing for hundreds of drivers to sign up. Best of British will not use real-world weather (for obvious reasons) but will have one race guaranteed to be at night – making ACC’s already challenging British tracks even more of a test.
Signups for Best of British will open around the same time as Sprint Cup season 3’s (during this week’s Super Saturday) so to find out exactly when – make sure you are watching live! After you have signed up in your desired car, The Sim Grid will host a Hotlap Qualifying to sort everyone into their correct splits for the event.
The Races
For Best of British, we will, of course, be using ACC’s five incredible British circuits to put you and your car to the test. Round one will be held March 13th, with the first three rounds held consecutively, followed by a two-week break between the final two rounds. The calendar is as follows:
- Round 1 – Oulton Park – 90 minutes
- Round 2 – Donington – 2.4h endurance
- Round 3 – Silverstone – 90 minutes
- Round 4 – Brands Hatch – 90 minutes
- Round 5 – Snetterton – 2.4h endurance
The Best of British calendar consists of five of the most popular tracks in ACC and are bound to produce great racing. Head to The Sim Grid website to find out more!
