The Sim Racing Collective is a community dedicated to providing a respectful, fun and competitive environment for sim racing enthusiasts of all skill levels. Since its early days, TSRC has offered a great variety of competitions across various simulators and platforms, ensuring that every member can find events tailored to their preferences. From endurance races on Assetto Corsa Competizione to open-wheel action on iRacing, The Sim Racing Collective has got you covered!
From OTL to TSRC
The community was officially founded on September 8th, 2022, as the successor to On The Limit Community Racing (OTL), another popular host at the SimGrid. The transition from OTL to TSRC was driven by the departure of one of the former admins. “We created this community when a former friend was no longer able to manage OTL”, explains ‘Averagesharpie’, one of the community’s admins. “Myself and many others entertained the idea of starting fresh with our experience”.
Not starting completely from scratch has been an advantage for TSRC. In fact, many OTL regulars kept on racing in the new community, forming a solid base of experienced users to start with. Over the following two years, many new faces joined TSRC, attracted by the racing offer and by the inclusive and supportive atmosphere created by the admins over time. They always try their best to include members of all abilities, while maintaining a respectful, fun and competitive environment for racing. These principles have been key to the community’s success.
“Respecting the members that make up your community is important to keeping a friendly and fun community environment”, says Averagesharpie. “We all want the same thing and that’s a place to enjoy our free time, and to race fairly with one another. We are very constructive, as we like to listen to everyone and we always ask for feedback to help push our community forward, as well as to create stronger championships”.
Racing On Both PC And Consoles
The success of TSRC would not be possible without the hard work of a strong admin group. Marcel Hess and Andrew Pike are the pillars of Race Direction, ensuring that events run smoothly in a fair environment. Dave White, Will Ellis and Alex Richards manage the console side. In fact, TSRC organises events on both PC and consoles, attracting an even wider audience of sim racers.
With limited choices in terms of simulation, for console users, the focus has always been on ACC. These cross-platform championships are very strong and popular within the community. Meanwhile, the PC side has seen a growing interest in iRacing, leading to an expansion of the community’s offerings on this platform. “iRacing is a platform that offers a lot in terms of content. We as a community have enjoyed the open-wheel action of F4s and recently our GT4 series”.
The Future Of TSRC: Keeping It Simple On ACC, Exploring New Ideas on iRacing
Going forward, TSRC’s admins plan to continue to focus on the strengths of both ACC and iRacing. The ACC championships will maintain their classic approach, utilising the cross-platform functionality to bring together racers from PC and consoles. Races are held on Thursdays and Sundays and everyone is welcome. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?
The iRacing side will be more inclined to changes. While the GT4 Series will continue with its second edition on Fridays, on Sundays a new Sports Car Series will make its debut. “With the forever growing content on iRacing, it would be a shame to not try something a bit out of the ordinary to provide something interesting for existing and new members”, the admins hint.
