May sees another action-packed month at The Sim Grid with plenty of special events featuring a plethora of car and track combinations, as well as the continued sagas of some of the league’s favourite championships. Here is everything you need to know as The Sim Grid heads into the month of May.
Endurance Cup S3 by Thrustmaster
The Endurance Cup returns for its third season on the 1st of May. The calendar is comprised of 3, 3-hour endurance races at the Hungaroring, Laguna Seca, and Misano as well as a 6-hour race at Monza and a 9-hour race at Paul Ricard. 3 drivers comprise each car on the grid of 45 entries in each of the four splits. The first race of the season is the 3 Hours of Hungaroring, with the race starting at 13:00 CEST on the 1st of May.
Season 2 saw an incredibly tight championship battle in Split 1, with the #149 YAS Heat Mercedes winning out over the #157 GTWR Racing Team Lamborghini. With both teams sure to renew their rivalry for the new season and with plenty of talented opponents, it will certainly be another exciting season. Sprint Cup S3 Rounds 5 and 6
The penultimate and final rounds of the Sprint Cup both take place during the month of May, with the series heading to Zolder on the 6th and the last race taking place at Suzuka on the 20th.
Currently, it is tight at the top of the standings, with the #404 Ferrari of H3 Racing leading with BMW Team G2 Esports and the #99 GTWR Racing Team Ferrari close behind.
As always, practice starts at 20:00 CEST before the drivers briefing, qualifying, and the race at 21:00. Both of these races will be broadcast on The Sim Grid Youtube Channel.
Super Saturday
The 8th of May sees an action-packed evening of racing with 3 events from the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
V8 Cup
Super Saturday begins at 17:00 CEST with practice, qualifying, and the half-hour race for the V8 Cup. As the name suggests, this race features V8-Powered cars only with the Mercedes AMG GT3, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Bentley Continental, BMW M6, Ferrari 488, Jaguar G3, Lexus RCF, and McLaren 720S and 650S eligible to race.
Golden Oldies
Following the conclusion of the V8 Cup race, practice begins for the Golden Oldies event at 18:00 CEST, followed by qualifying and the half-hour race scheduled to start at 18:30. This event is eligible for cars from 2016 and prior, the only exception being the Lamborghini Gallardo derived Reiter Engineering R-EX GT3, which raced in 2018.
Battle of Barcelona
The feature race of the evening is the Battle of Barcelona, practice for which begins at 19:00 before qualifying and the race at 20:10. The 2-hour endurance race sees a total of 48 cars from a multiclass field of GT3, GT4, and Porsche Carrera Cup cars. Each team is required to have 2 drivers, with a maximum stint length of 35 minutes and 3 mandatory driver swaps.

More Female Racers by Thrustmaster Rockets Rounds 2 and 3
The third season of one of The Sim Grid’s most innovative championships continues through the month of May.
The More Female Racers by Thrustmaster Rockets, having started in late April, heads to Monza on May 10th and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on May 24th. Practice for every round of the championship will start at 20:00 CEST before the drivers briefing, qualifying, and finally the race starting at 21:00 CEST.
However, this season is set to be very different from the previous two, as the GT3 formula has been replaced by a spec field of Lamborghini Super Trofeos. This is expected to put every team on a level playing field by removing any possible advantages or disadvantages teams may face due to their car choice. Furthermore, the female driver will spend a greater amount of time behind the wheel, with the 60-minute race being split into three 20-minute stints as opposed to two 30-minute stints.
The second season saw Jean Alesi Esports dominate the season on the Pro standings, winning 4 out of 5 races, with a worst finish of 2nd. However, with a roster of star drivers and teams, a standardized field of cars, it is sure to be yet another exciting season. The Sim Grid X VCO World Cup Round 2
The second round of The Sim Grid X VCO World Cup heads to Belgium for the Thrustmaster 24 Hours of Spa across the 13th, 14th, and 15th of May.
The 13th is dedicated to qualifying with practice for both splits starting at 19:45 CEST before the drivers briefing at 20:00 before split 2 qualifying at 20:10 and split 1 qualifying at 20:30. The Top 10 Superpole for split 2 then starts at 21:00 with the night finishing with split 1 Superpole at 21:30.
The 14th sees the final split 2 practice get underway at 12:00 CEST before the drivers briefing at 12:10 and the race start at 12:30. The final split 1 practice starts at 12:30 before the drivers briefing at 12:40 and the green flag at 13:00.
The proceeding 24 hours will certainly see some incredibly exciting sim racing action, as the teams and drivers continue their campaigns for a share in the championship’s $20000 prize pool.
Currently, DV1 TRITON Racing leads the standings in the #111 Bentley having taken victory at the Bathurst 12 Hour. This is not a race to miss and you can view all the action on The Sim Grid YouTube Channel.
German Cup
The 27th marks the final big event of the month with the German Cup at the Nurburgring. This event sees a 75 minute, multi-class race featuring German GT3 and GT4 cars, with one mandatory pit stop. This race will see cars from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Porche take the Nürburgring GP Circuit at, thus concluding the month of May at The Sim Grid.
